GREEK LIFE/AFFINITY GROUPS - The Blueprint for Unmasking Masculinity
T. Leon Williams opens the door to one of the most intriguing conversations often times overlooked in fraternity circles, affinity groups, and leadership organizations today, identity!
It is Williams' belief that male students have abandoned their authentic-self for safety, protection, acceptance or to satisfy the expectations of the campus community.
Audience: Orientation, Residence Life, Greek Life, Student Athletes, NPHC
Key Issues: Masculinity, Power, Privilege
College campuses are inundated with diversity education initiatives that barely touch the surface of identity formation. As a result, many college campuses
are experiencing a shift in male engagement, leadership, and advocacy. T. Leon Williams, creator of "Men of Character College Men" has found that many males "mask" their identity to avoid being alienated. As a result, male students fail to become acquainted with their authentic self.
Your campus needs strong male leaders, advocates, role models, and supporters. This is not a program; this is a conversation. Invite your male students to gain insight on how to navigate the college experience without sacrificing self.
In this program, Williams provides students with the "Blueprint" for drawing on their experiences to "Unmask" their true emotions and hidden talents. This program challenges students to engage in a honest conversation about their personal journey on your campus and the common misconceptions of manhood.
All programs include small and large group discussion. Programs can be modified to meet the needs of your audience. Please feel free to customize your program.
CONCENTRATIONS:
SELF: (Students will learn how to share the "defining moments" in their life)
CHARACTER: (Students will examine the common misconceptions of manhood)
COMMUNITY: (Students will gain knowledge of how to strengthen the community)
HELP your male students redefine masculinity through personal narratives.
